I AM
Wisdom and Prudence
(Proverbs 8 vs 12)

My name is Wisdom, I span all time,
I'd like you to meet a friend of mine.
Hi, I'm Prudence, I dwell with him,
I help to keep him free from sin.
I've journeyed far, I've traveled wide,
Over the tallest peak, the deepest tide,
To gather knowledge, increase in mind,
Excel in thought and answers find.
I follow closely, just a gentle word,
But the more he knows, the less I'm heard,
I beg him to listen, to humble himself,
But pride creeps in and I'm left on the shelf.
Oh the things that I've learnt, my minds second to none,
The wonders I've seen, how great I've become
I knew this would happen, so often it does,
It started the moment he became 'I' and not 'us',
Like Solomon before me, I've done myself proud,
I've made myself a name, I stand out from the crowd,
I've crossed frontiers, discerned time and space,
If thoughts were legs, I'd win every race.
Like Solomon before him, he forgot to thank the Lord,
To be gentle in his wisdom, to control this mighty sword,
For wisdom is a gift from God, A gift for you and me,
So remember this little story and use it prudently.
